A first step to understanding where the Celts came from and how they lived.
How did success and population growth cause huge folk movements? Did the Celts pillage ancient Delphi? Where did the Galations live?
How was a typical Celtic battle enacted? Why would warriors fight to the death over a leg of meat? To what extent were the Celtic gods everywhere?
Did you know in Dorset on Hambledon Hill there is evidence that in the summer of 3662 BC, 200 people gathered to create a 5 acre enclosure by digging a trench 2m deep in the chalk, and piling the spoil up to create a white wall of that chalk, visible for miles around? Here they feasted with at least 2 oxen and after the feast they buried the bones in a ritual to consecrate the ground. After this point is was a revered site of excarnation, where the deceased were left in open sky burials. Later mortal remains may be collected and interred in communal long barrows. Imagine the belief systems that were in existence at this time. It is very likely that we are the descendants of many of these people. They are our long distant ancestors.
